MOTS-c
Also known as Mitochondrial Open Reading Frame of the 12S rRNA-c
MOTS-c is a mitochondria-derived peptide that acts as a metabolic regulator and has been called an 'exercise mimetic' — it activates the same cellular pathways as aerobic exercise. It improves insulin sensitivity, fat metabolism, and longevity markers.
How it works
Translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress and activates AMPK and TFAM pathways. Regulates adaptive nuclear gene expression and systemic metabolic homeostasis.
Benefits
- Activates AMPK — same pathway as exercise and metformin
- Improves insulin sensitivity and glucose metabolism
- Exercise-mimetic effects — metabolic benefits without exercise
- Anti-aging via mitochondrial protection
- Reduces age-associated obesity and metabolic disease
- Increases physical endurance in animal models
Dosing
5–10 mg · 3–5x per week
Experimental dosing. 5–10mg SubQ 3–5x per week is commonly reported by early adopters.
Ranges reflect commonly cited research protocols, not a prescription. Dose with a licensed provider.
