Cerebrolysin
Also known as FPF-1070, Cerebrolysinum
Cerebrolysin is a porcine brain-derived peptide mixture containing low-molecular-weight neuropeptides that mimic endogenous neurotrophic factors (BDNF, NGF, GDNF). It has the strongest clinical evidence base of any nootropic peptide, with decades of European and Asian trials in stroke, TBI, Alzheimer's, and vascular dementia.
How it works
Peptide fractions act as BDNF, NGF, CNTF, and GDNF mimetics, activating TrkB and p75NTR signaling pathways to promote neuronal survival, differentiation, and synaptic plasticity. Also inhibits calpain-mediated neurodegeneration and reduces neuroinflammation.
Benefits
- Neuroprotection against ischemic and excitotoxic injury
- Improved memory consolidation and recall
- Accelerated cognitive recovery after TBI or stroke
- Reduced amyloid-beta and tau pathology
- Enhanced neuroplasticity and synaptogenesis
- Mood stabilization and anti-anxiety effects
Dosing
1–10 mL · Once daily
Nootropic/enhancement: 1–5mL/day IM. TBI/neurodegeneration: 10–30mL/day IV (clinical). Comes pre-mixed — no reconstitution.
Ranges reflect commonly cited research protocols, not a prescription. Dose with a licensed provider.
Common stacks
Reported side effects
- Agitation or overstimulation at high doses
- Sleep disruption if dosed late
- Mild flu-like symptoms first 1–2 days
- Injection site reactions
- Rare: headache, nausea, hypersensitivity (porcine-derived)
Who it’s for
Adults with cognitive decline, TBI history, post-stroke recovery, early neurodegeneration, or high-performers seeking a well-studied nootropic with a real clinical track record.
