PT-141 (Bremelanotide) is an FDA-approved melanocortin receptor agonist for hypoactive sexual desire disorder in women — and widely used off-label by men for erectile dysfunction and libido enhancement. It works centrally on the brain rather than blood flow, making it unique among sexual dysfunction treatments.
How it works
Melanocortin MC3R and MC4R agonist. Acts centrally in the hypothalamus to increase sexual motivation independent of hormones or genital blood flow. Activates dopaminergic reward pathways involved in sexual response.
